Chris
Jennings is a painter. However, over the years he has made works in
other media: photographs, films and works in three dimensions. The
relationship of two and three-dimensional work has been of pivotal
importance for his practice. The initial concepts for paintings are
often prepared with small wooden maquettes. In addition the function of
other forms of notation in relation to the making and ‘reading’ of
paintings is very important. He has collaborated on many occasions with
composers, choreographers and musicians. Much of his recent work has
evolved from studying the formal, pictorial language and structure of
early Renaissance painting. There is particular reference to Duccio. |
