The enigmatic title is from the harpsichord piece by Francois Couperin.
The work functions as a reminiscence, and reinforcement, of the
touching and ‘holding’ of the keyboard and the sustaining of sound, and
its relevance to the insistence of the painted surface. Again the
colour sections ‘echo’ through from one painting to the next, and in a
thematic reversal moving from left to right, above/below.
